Laura has her Master’s Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and has been a successful entrepreneur and marketing consultant for over twenty years. Before deciding to join her husband’s pond business, AquaReale, as president, Laura ran her own successful marketing firm.
Her firm got involved with product sampling and had 17 part time employees promoting and marketing food products throughout the Philadelphia area. Within one year, everything changed. Laura’s mother, who helped raise her daughter, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2010. Less than one year later, Laura and Matt’s one year old son was diagnosed with Autism. Between her mother and son, more than 15-20 hours a week were spent in therapies and caregiving. Laura decided to close her product sampling company and needed a job flexible enough to take care of her mom and son. After much soul searching, Laura decided to take over what was primarily her husband’s company, allowing her the time to focus on her family.
As time went on, Laura’s son was greatly assisted to have traditional toddler skills and her mother went into a nursing home and then passed away in 2015. Laura then needed another outlet for her energy and decided to utilize her marketing skills to start Pondtent.
I find it easier to plan and write content in a chunk of time rather than think about it every other day. I try to plan tips and content for the month rather than by the day. It saves you time and stress!
